What requirements process do you use?

Post by cshireman »

Hello everyone,
I'm a grad student at CalPoly, San Luis Obispo and I am conducting research into what requirements processes developers use when they are working on their own. It doesn't matter if you are the only developer in a company, working on a small project within a larger company, or completely on your own. The only requirement is that you need to be the only person working on the project. Here are some of the questions I am trying to answer:

What requirements process(if any) do you use?
If you do use a process, why do you use this specific process?
How much detail do you go into when writting your requirments?
How often do you just "wing it"?

If you can recommend any good articles that deal with this subject, that would be great. Thanks in advance for your help.
