You don't like Google?
Not the whole company. I just don't like their PR tactics.
Anyway, I'm not going to argue with anyone about Google, because this will enevitably lead to someone screaming that I'm troll.

You should stop being easy on the guy. You know he's a curse. He always does that. He needs to be banned from these forums.

I guess you have to be one of them computer nerds to find the humor in it. Sergey and Larry probably thought this idea up in between a game of Magic Cards and their half-hour discussion on which asmtha inhaler is better.

This is a completely valid point.
Google hasn't led the way in valid code. I wouldn't say its HORRIBLY incompatible (most are meant to reduce output, and increase compatibility with older browsers), but its definitely in need of many fixes.
Thankfully,
in a recent post, a google employee (Ian Hickson, of HTML/CSS fame) specifically mentioned "we know that we're not leading the way in terms of validation".
Couple that with recent
leaked screenshots of revamped google homepage layouts , and I would say there is a good chance that they are not only aware of it, they may be fixing it very soon.

Clicking the links, and reading the *full* comment helps.

Its not standards compliant, it is more cluttered than it could be, and it could have more semantic meaning. Those are the easy answers. I'd bet beyond that, there are others as well. I'll stick with the compliance issue, since
I already mentioned it in the post you quoted to ask. LOL
