All right, I've noticed Firefox 1.5 eats my RAM like mad. Currently it's @81 MB! When I used 1.0, it was never above 35 MB, usually ~30 MB. Do you experience the same?

Depends on platform (It will *appear* to use more on Linux, than it appears to on Windows), plugins installed, and more. (Flash and Java will bloat your numbers an INCREDIBLE amount - disable them both for the win!)
After several hours open, with 5 tabs, and over 20 extensions, I'm at 60 mb on Windows.
Its a little high at the moment, but I've been abusing it.

81MB is tiny.. I recently had it up to 500MB.. it's a known issue in Firefox that it doesn't really release memory well.. it takes longer to get high memory usage now, but not much so over previous versions..

I'm on XP Pro SP2 and only one plugin installed - Google Toolbar. It's a huge difference compared to 1.0 though.

I'll mention that at startup, with my 20 plugins, I'm at around 31mb.
On Opera as my browser instead, I'm at 18. Half the memory usage. And without my plugins, its half as useful too.

CNN uses a lot of automatic refreshes on it's page, one of the last to do so in fact.
Edit: bleh I got all sorts of political.

This is a known problem and I understand that they intend to release an update this month to fix it.
