Your Dreams

Post by seodevhead »

I think it would be fascinating to hear some of our most interesting and craziest dreams that we have had. Let me tell you some of mine.

I have a lot of dreams where I bleed from the mouth and my teeth fall out. Never is it a frightening dream however, but very odd nonetheless.

I have had the same exact dream numerous times over the span of years. Minute details were the same even years later.

I have a lot of dreams where I am in bed but cannot move or make a sound no matter how hard I try. I will hear a noise like there is an intruder and I will try to get up or yell for help but to no avail. The strange thing is I actually know I am in a dream. I have enough consciousness to know I am half asleep and sometimes I try to jerk myself awake. These are the most frightening dreams I have.

I have had dreams where I wake up in bed and see a huge bug crawling in my sheets, where then I swat it out frantically and jump out of bed. After so only to realize that "perhaps" the bug was really in my dream... or was it?????

I had probably my first real lucid dream the other day where I knew I was dreaming and had full control, I was just running around screaming "I AM DREAMING". Yes, something is wrong with me.

I also have this book which is supposed to be like a dictionary of all your dreams, I can lookup different topics and it says what they are supposed to mean

Isn't dreaming of your teeth falling out a sign of personal insecurity?

I had a dream just last night that I was hiding in someones loft waiting for them to come up to try and kill me. I had a hammer in my hand and I was gunna whack them on the head with it when they came up, but they looked up and saw me without me seeing them and then started waving a knife around up the hatch towards me.

Then I woke myself up :)

If I'm dreaming and something bad is happening like me probably dying soon I can just wake myself up.

I reckon I need professional help also :)

Hmmm I don't have very memorable dreams often. I did have one last week though. I dreamt that (and I don't know why) my mum was in the kitchen hacking her fingers off with a hammer. Then she tried to make a cup of tea and couldn't pick the teapot up. Really weird.

From the description, this is very close to a Night Terror. Its not technically a dream, because you haven't reached full REM state yet - which is why it seems so real and terrifying.

I'm a terrible person to ask about dreams. I've seen just about the worst out there.

I've had problems with Sleep Walking. One night I got out of bed, unlocked the front door, opened it (and it is a very heavy door!), and walked approximately 250 feet down the sidewalk. I was in nothing more than boxers, and it was snowing out.

I've battled with Night Terrors extensively. For a very harsh one week period, I had less than one night of restful sleep total, resulting in near total exhaustion.

I've also battled with horrific true nightmares. In one, I got in a verbal argument with a large man who was unfamiliar to me. He pulled out a large gun, and shot a single shot directly into my chest. I felt the pain of the shot, the bleeding, the constriction in my chest, felt unable to breath, and upon waking up during this whole process, I was in total pain and fear. It lasted for several minutes.

Dreams are your mind's attempt to address stress that isnt getting dealt with during waking hours. Denial and avoiding emotions can wreak havok on your mind. Eventually, your mind will not suffer you doing so further.

Keep in mind that depending on who you ask, dreams are literal, or completely unrelated to the cause. I've had both, and my personal opinion is that dreams are drawn from your subconscious - whatever those contents may be.

My trouble with sleeping has led me down many paths.. none entirely successful. But the most successful has been to reduce stress.

Sounds like you get sleep paralysis. I get this too occaisionally and it's horrible. I'm awake but I'm not. I often feel like I can't breathe, let alone move or cry out. Apparantly you're less likely to get it if you don't sleep on your back, so I don't anymore, and I don't get it so often. It's a harmless condition though. It's sleep apnea you want to worry about I think!

Anyway, on the subject of dreams, I very often have computer related dreams when I'm not feeling so well. I've woken up with belly-aches, convinced that if I ran a defrag on my filesystem I'd feel a lot better. (I'm not kidding, these are the actual thoughts that have gone through my head!). The most recent one was caused by some PHP related stresses at work and I dreamt through most of the program I'd written and woke up thinking I was an initialized but empty array.

Yeah...I think I need help....

I once went out with a girl who had night terrors, but they were a little different to this - basically, she couldn't wake up, and would scream in her sleep like she was being murdered (which, in her head, she could have been) and it scared the living bejesus out of me.
Also, out of interest, she is the best-looking girl I have ever seen - she was super-hot :D :D :D

Is this fact? I thought scientist people were still trying to figure out exactly why we dream.

I've had a few occasions of sleep apnea, but fairly rare.

I haven't had a nightmare since likely pushing near two decades now..
