Conversation you're refering to is regarding Oracle buying Zend, not Oracle buying mySQL.

Yeah, that was titled Zend but the article didn't focus solely on Zend, nor did the discussion...
It was more about Oracle buying open source companies and which ones were likely targets, MySQL was one...
...but I guess Zend was the mentioned one because this, of course, is a PHP forum.
