I downloaded the Internet Explorer 7 beta and now I can't get rid of it. Does anybody know how I can go back to IE 6?

Try going to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components and untick IE

Chuckle...

I thought most people knew that MS doesn't like for you to be able to remove anything of theirs. :D You are kind of screwed. :)

smurf!
<--- on my work computer. Can't format. So yes. I am screwed.

I downloaded it thinking that it wasn't integrated with Windows anymore and it could be removed.

Internet explorer 7 sucks by the way.

Why does it sucks? I actually like this a whole lot more then IE6 so not sure why you would want to uninstall and go back.

That only removes the IE shortcuts on the Start Menu and Desktop.

For exactly this reason I haven't installed ie7 yet. Will have to in the near future though, to start testing *cough* see what new bugs I'll have to deal with. I hope some clever person will build a nice complete package of all ie-versions (5?, 5.5, 6.0, 7) which can be safely used seperately. Just as it is now with the standalone 5/5.5 package.

Pff, I don't want to think about the mess we're going to get when 1) some bugs are fixed 2) some not 3) some bugfixes will mess up "hacks" or workarounds used before to fix the earlier bugs 4) some earlier workarounds will introduce new bugs. I'm really looking forward to go back to all sites and testing them again. I haven't anything else to do

As it seems at the moment, the probability of this scenario becoming true is large.

I keep waiting for the EU to start landing MS with extra distribution conditions ;). They already have to package XP without Media Player in the EU, next up will be IE, then Outlook Express, then...

IE7 is still Beta - I'm a bit surprised they didn't allow its easy removal given that small factoid.

It is very easy to remove. Just go to add/remove programs and remove. I am now back on IE6 with no problems. I would of kept IE7, but it was still a little buggy.
