Just wondering how many out there depend on PHP for their living or are you just a hobbyist?

it sucks how many ASP jobs there are out there on the market compared to PHP jobs. MAYBE once a week they'll be a php job listing coming up on monster, hotjobs or flipdog :(

I develop financial and small ERP-like Web applications in PHP / Interbase for a living.
I work for a small company in Romania (just 10 people), I'm also a 5-th year student in Computer Science and Industrial Automation. :)

Well as it goes im a 3rd year university student with 2 much work to do at the moment. I could have signed as many contracts as there are days in the week if I wanted, but I dont have the time, while im still at uni. At the moment the PHP + mySQL work I do pays for my extreamly good student life, ie. Car, Rent, Drinking etc. and my mega smart PC. I just need more time!

I work for a local council as a web developer, most of what I do is backend stuff using PHP and MySQL. Lots of local councils in this country (England) are starting to use PHP and there seem to be lots more jobs going for PHP developers than there used to be.

I am part owner of a web development compnay
http://www.northstudio.com
(not a plug)
So yes I do make my living as a php'er but it is not much of a living yet.
Start up's are damm expensive if you decide not to do the borrow from a bank thing.
I hope soon to be able to actually make a good living at it, but time will tell.

I am now working at my second PHP-based programming job. The first company I worked for does instant credit decisioning for major financial intuitions using php front and backends. When I started we had 5 full-time PHP developers, now they are up around 20 I think.

I now work for a retail outlet that sell headphones and headphone amplifiers over the internet (http://www.headphone.com). We have a complete PHP/MySQL based website that handles everything from taking orders, inventory management, and order processing work-flow.

And like most web developers I have a side business that I am trying to get going. Getting closer and closer to going full-time on my own.

I'm creating a link indexer which should sell quite large on the market that i'm developing for. $65/each license.

Not that much money, but it'll get me what I want/need. Then again, I'm only 16. ;)
