So I am in Estonia but as you might know the Russians have not really gone away. Thus there is a cable TV provider that dubs everything in Russian. Well I don't know Russian and I will not learn it but the only cable TV provider at my new apartment happens to be the one that dubs everything in Russian . I have heard of a way to get the dubbed language to go away though the TV but I don't think I have that option (at least from what I tested).
So my question is:
Does anyone know how to get this dubbed language gone? If I have to buy somthing, no problem. I just want to watch the discovery channel in English !
Are you talking about closed captioning? You should be able to turn that off in your tv or in the cable box. If it's embedded in the video feed your probably out of luck. Get a satelite dish
no no like this station is originally in English but the cable TV provider has someone translating everything into Russian OVER the English voice so you can't hear the English and you only hear the Russian. I want the Russian go go away so the English (original language its in) is heard. I am 99% positive there is some option to turn this off but I don't know it and I don't think my TV has that option. Maybe there is some box I can put before the cable goes into my TV that will turn all those dubs off so I can hear the original language of all the channels I get (Estonian and English).
you could just get a few thousand people together and start a revolution
more chance of doing that than undubing a signal these days.
they are all pretty much encoded into the signal, so you can't really separate them after.
go buy yourself a new box mate
Our remote control seems to have a button that allows us to switch between dutch and english for a couple of channels, eg: eurosport. (I believe this is technically realised by using the stereo channels as two mono channels by our cable provider.)
Does your TV have an SAP (Second Audio Programming) button? Look for one on the TV or remote and see if that could do it. I know in California almost half of our programming is available in Spanish by using the SAP feature.

Da, Russkie vobshe s uma soshli...(I'm Russian, but that sounds crazy even to me).
As for undubbing, I don't think that's possible, so it sounds like you're stuck. =( Any particular reason for not wanting to learn Russian? It's not a bad language, you know...

...Russians and Estonians don't get along very well...
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
On the other hand, Russian seams like it is a good idea to learn. I think I will stick with the dubbed TV as it will help me learn it easier.
Edit: also after organizing my channels I have stations in estonian, english, russian, german, and finnish. I only know 1 person who can actually speak all 5 of those which is freakin impressive but I will never be able to speak them all which gives me very good incentive to get them un-dubbed.
