Okay.... everytime I download a whole bunch in iTunes (ie. podcasts, etc)... after about 10 minutes of downloading, it kills my wireless home network connection and takes all the computers (even the one hardwired to the gateway router) offline. What is up with that? I have tried it turning off all the firewalls, etc. Still killing all the internet connections. And the only way to correct it is to go to the hardwired computer and disable the LAN and re-enable it... then do the same on all the other PCs. Anyone have an idea why this is happening and how to correct!??! THANKS.

sounds like the router can't handle the traffic load too well

Try connecting the hardwired computer straight to the internet and execute the behavior that causes the crash. If the crash doesn't happen, go out and buy a new router. ;-)

If I recall correctly that was one of the issues that was fixed in a firmware upgrade a while back for linksys routers. Check to see if this is an issue that has been fixed by the vendor.

Good luck.

the header of this topic sounds like something you would hear in a Star Wars movie.

If you have a modem/router in router modus.

The problem may be the same problem like i had with my provider, not my modem.
This provider offered only 1024 for MTU downloads and that's why my connection always crashed after a while, somtime minutes, sometime hours.

Try to set your MTU to 1024 or less (usual = +/-1500).
I had similar problems only when i was downloading (ex ==> podcasts) , not uploading.

Good luck.

Get a switch or upgrade router's firmware, switches are smarter in the way in which they route traffic around your network
