Do new Gurus get a free beer?

Post by Maugrim_The_Reaper »

I felt like massaging my ego a little and boasting. This is my 1000th post. To celebrate I vote we all reflect on where Devnetwork would be without me.

- There would be no active Irish member (and hence this Forum would be totally boring)
- There would no member using a name which strikes fear into the heart of newbies and scares away trolls
- There would be two less tutorials
- You'd all have read far fewer wordy PHP explanations which feyd would take three words to summarise.
- There would be no demonic avatars on the Forum
- You'd never know Ireland existed without me as proof
- Roja would have laid claim to being the sole PHP game developer in Dodge City, then copyrighted, patented and trademarked the concept
- Certain individuals might still think Smithwicks is a viable alternative to Guinness. You owe me a lot for that one.
- Roja would still think Shamrock was native to Dublin, Ohio, USA. It's not. We want it all back by the way.
- I can argue over tiny semantics in the most irritatingly polite way possible - I scare off trolls simply by existing
- The quality of life for Maugrimites is scientifically proven to be exponentially better than for the average PHP code monkey. Fact.
- Roja would... sorry, that one's getting old...
- Feyd would have 1000 extra posts under his belt...

Now about that free beer...

yes,you are right. Without some people, this forum woul not be the way it is right. It seems that all members are important to the forum. Your right about those explanations. If you were to give me an explanation,i would know exactly where to go after you gave it to me.

Rock on!

No way. Patents are short-term, copyrights are laughably enforced, and trademarks are a dime a dozen.

Trade secrets baby. Even mentioning it can generate a lawsuit. Thats what I call BS legal power!

Not a chance. We're keeping the green beer too. You should be happy, you got the blarney stone.

Smackdowns on a man with a name as arrogant as "Roja" can NEVER get old. That nick just asks for it. Oh wait, thats me..

I have Irish in me...although Canadian born and a mix of others...I am Irish...partially at least...25% Scottish and 25% Polish 25% Ukrainian...so that would make a quarter Irish...

Hows the saying go...Erin Go Bragh :P

Holy geees...

Just curious whats your average post/day?

Mine is like 1.24 last I checked...

Which is skewed because I've been a member since 2004 but wasn't active until a few months ago...I believe

Over the last six months, about 24 posts a day. The average listed by phpBB is 23.06 over my lifetime as a user here. It used to be close to 30, but taking off for work dropped the level. :? We're getting a bit off topic though, so I'll shut it. :)

Jcart, nice selection. But there is a Smithwicks artfully hidden in the middle of the bunch...;). You have to wake up early, or very very late to catch me out.

I suppose a few missing sprigs won't be missed too much... The stuff grows everywhere over here!
