Just curious because recently I needed a high quality picture of a plane jane face, and it turns out I have to buy it. =]

Yep... I use Stock Xchng too (that second link above). Just a bunch a photographers that like to see their work being used (royalty-free).
Corbis has a stupidly high amount of snaps but you need to pay for anything large.

there are tons of royalty free stock photos on the internet so no need to steal. just google search. You need to add a 4th option in your poll
