That sounds creepy... Imagine an attack of insect like aliens that require human bodies as hosts to gestate their offspring. Talk about never feeling alone

.
I had seen this show on the discovery channel the other day about this guy who was lost in some area near a river. There were these flies (like mosquitos, except they made deposits instead of withdrawals) that would lay eggs underneath your skin. These egg sacks would turn into these huge infected boils which would feed the larvae until they were ready to leave the sore and become nasty flying critters themselve.
Now that would make one heckuva story line for an aliens-that-are-insect movie, eh?
PS I just want to continue this thread derailment. I think it would be kinda neat to see how far off topic we can get this thing...

It reminded me of this:
Dracunculiasis. No need for any aliens - there's plenty of creepy stuff in our world.

A meter long worm that grows in your intestine and then takes several weeks to bore its way out of your body through your skin -- that's not too creepy ... and you get it from drinking ... water. Thanks for sharing that with the class Ree.

If not too creepy then it's crappy for sure.
PS. This thread has extremely utterly mindlessly gone off-topic.

http://www.treesforlife.org.uk/tfl.midge.html is the easiest find on Google. This is the same species that afflicts Ireland every Summer. Having a look at other links, seems the "biting midge" term is used on non-midges in the US...maybe a cultural import? Frankly, these midges are quite literally a plague. I live just a stones throw from bogland and they congregate in swarms of biting tiny insects...usually around tasty Humans. Hell.
Probably worse things in the world, but forgive the Irish guy who's yet to experience them...

We're still on-topic. Temperature, and the insectoid madness it births... Everah should rename the thread...lol.

That is one nasty looking little insect. I can say that I am glad we don't have those around here.
I need to get the picture of the mosquito dragon I found in my house the other day. I swear, it looked about as big as a small plane. It was enormous. When I get home I'll try to post a picture.

Not for long...
did anyone hear the comment Charles Barkley made last night on Inside the NBA about Chris Kaman? OMG it was absolutely ruthless. I like the way he's blunt and to the point about things...but this one was a wee bit off the deep end.

The thread has been renamed! I also added a little warning to my original post.

For those of us non-Jedi, what did CB say?

Something to make the point of how un-attractive he is. It absolutely blew me away, I had to hit rewind on the dvr about 10x to make sure I heard it correctly. I'm surprised he can maintain a job there with comments like that.
btw, how about those Suns! w00t! 2OT win in VERY dramatic fashion.

I would just like to point out that am a bit miffed at seeing Arsenal's keeper walking off the field with a red card parked up his posterior... What does NBA stand for? Why am I multi-tasking while watching Barca losing?
15 minutes remaining (in the game...).

Doesn't surprise me. Barkley never really had a way with words. How about Jack Nicholson's face when the Suns finally won it? Priceless. I like to see the Joker's face saddened every now and again.

The Suns and Arsenal ... those are Curling teams eh? That's with the brooms and ice and all that. And this CB with the red card ... does he sweep or push the big rock thingy? This ice does keep those nasty midges away though.
