Don't. It was horrible.

just kidding. Brett Ratner did a good job.
I recommend staying until after the credit roll.

I think you were right twice. I think he did a terrible job, and a good job.
He did a good job of putting on screen a serious war, a massive battle, and got across just how incredibly powerful the X-men are.
The entire rest of the movie was the terrible job part. Adding characters that are used for all of five minutes, ruining whole groups of characters for any future movie.. its like Brett went to the studio heads and said "Hey, can I destroy the franchise if I sign on to do part 3, since you don't have a real director anymore?" - and they said yes.
Its a great ride, and any X-fan shouldn't miss it, but its like Star-Control3.. it just doesn't fit with the first two.
Many terrible things, a few good things.

I saw it. I hadn't read the book, which I think helped.
I thought it accomplished what I wanted out of the movie: An exciting thriller, with some unexpected turns, and enough good interesting plot lines that I asked questions about the past.
As long as people who see the movie ask questions about the past, and about faith, I think it was worthwhile.
But with that said, yeah, it wasn't nearly as good as I thought. Almost no humor, acting was mildly bad, and the storyline could have used some tuning.

Da Vinci Code was terrible, I didn't read the book beforehand either. Was going to go see X-Men 3 tonight but I ran out of petrol earlier and I am too tight to put any more in lol.

Hmmmmmm...
I'm not a fan of movies or TV...but I really enjoyed Spiderman and X-Men movies...
I thought the second XMen was really well done...injecting that security guard with metallic substance only later to have it pulled from his body and used as bullets...
I was like....whoa...thats soooo coool...
I'm thinking I will go see that movie tonight or tomorrow...

I can feel all the testosterone in the room -- talk about action adventure movies and off they go. Anyone seen Poseidon? Hehe, I'm just as bad as you guys are. I'm going to see x-3 tonight. Hope its good.

Totally unfair overgeneralization. I consider "Dangerous Liaisons" my favorite movie generally, and I'm less likely to see an Action/Adventure movie than other types of movies.
That said, I don't mind an occasional dose of popcorn-fueled, jump-out-of-your-chair-cheering, rowdy action. If it happens to embrace other things I love (video games, comic books, graphic novels), all the better.
The notable exception being anything made by Uwe Boll.

Great example to prove the point. You couldn't have paid me to go watch Poseidon.
I'm pretty chaotic when it comes to which movies I'll watch.. sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst.
By way of example, I did make the mistake this year of watching "The New World" with Colin Farrell, which amazed me by breaking into my worst movies of all time list.

One I haven't seen yet... Worth a rental even?
I thought the Da Vinci Code was pretty bad. But then I had read the book (twice)...
book+movie-rights ~= bad-movie-if-read-the-book
Lord of the Rings was the exception to the rule...

"The New World" ?
Lords no. It would be best described as what would happen if a Film Student was given half a script, a huge budget, incredible actors, and told to make sure that everything - especially the dreary reality of life in the new world frontier - is EPIC. Did I mention that there are scenes that last over 3 minutes straight with just single word monologue/voice-overs?
Scene: Colin walks thru a field, talking in a single sentence about how he loves the main love interest. (Time: 5 minutes). (Use lots of wide angle lenses)
EPIC. Epic-ly mind-numbingly arrogant and overdone. Any minor messages that might have been in the movie (and plenty of them are controversial at best) are completely overshadowed by some of the most pretentious directing and camera work you've ever seen.
If I could BUY back the hours of my life wasted watching that movie, I would gladly pay to do so. TWICE.

I seen it finally...
I liked it...although it left me with some questions...that as a non-comic geek...I cannot answer...
1) Why did wolverine have to kill the phoneix? Why not just poke her with one of those needles??? Why did Wolverine have to do it? Why not someone else?
2) Who would win in a fight? The Phoneix or Superman? Superman is impervious to everything...is faster than anything...stronger than anything...and isn't a mutant, but an alien from another planet...so mind control, like that of Dr. Xavier or Phoneix wouldn't apply to him...
So I say superman would kick some butt
Although I've always been a huge fan of the Incredible Hulk...and consider him the strongest and most powerful and oblivious to pain or destruction...
How can you destroy something which cannot be destroyed?
Cheers

There was nothing else that could be done at the time. If she was allowed to continue, a lot more people would be killed.
Hockey wrote:Why not just poke her with one of those needles???
Likely, it would have been destroyed long before Logan could get close enough -- notice how his close, along with his flesh was being torn away? -- to even stick her with it, let alone actually stop her abilities for long enough or quick enough.

Logan was the only mutant at the battle, that wanted to save humanity anyways, that had the regenerative powers strong enough to withstand the tearing apart. Did you notice how you saw more and more metal the closer he got that was being covered by skin rapidly?

That is a tough question to answer. Especially considering they are from different comic universes, it's harder to put them into the right contexts that gel together at least for myself, a total nerd. On the surface, Superman would likely be the favored and would appear to have the advantage. However with the extra dimensional power that Phoenix actually had, it's quite possible she could win as well.
I guess we'll find out more of what new direction Superman takes on June 28th..

Thought it was becuz of his regenerative abilities...
Also because Halle Berry asks him if he's ready to do what he needs to when time comes...that kind of gave it away...
Plus them being love birds and all...would make for a dramatic ending

Thats the excuse my friend gave me too
For me...It's obvious...Superman would be the winner...as for a the Hulk...he can't win or loose...as he's clearly the strongest...to my knowledge anyways...
as a kid I had a collection of marvel cards, but didn't care much for them except the Hulk...but made a point to scroll over each one and match their strengths to the Hulks...
Cheers
Interesting way to start a flame war I bet...goto a comic forum and say...
Spiderman is the best and would beat *any* super hero hands down...
Cheers
