There's a zero in there isn't there? And a 20. ;) You've been watching too many Omen trailers...which I can't see myself seeing since the trailer makes it look like just like the original one or two movies in the series. Damian on a tricycle, damian on a swing, damian with a big black hellhound, damian with his babysitter hanging from the roof... Even the priest looks like he'll be getting the iron-bar impalement treatment...

Nothing original in US horror movies anymore.

Agreed, most horror is movies are boring. Although I have enjoyed M. Night Shyamalan's stuff. But would you give it a horror label? Probably not.

Horror are boring to me :(

The last thing that even started to scare me was Poltergeist and I was about 6 years old.

I like war movies though. :P

Define your horizon of "Anymore". When do you think the originality stopped?

2004 - Saw - Two men in a room for the majority of the movie? Not unheard of in other genre's, but horror? Definitely original (and very well done)

2002 - Bubba Hotep - Elvis, JFK, body-swapping, don't even begin to tell me it aint original.

1999 - Blair Witch - The concept of making a fictional story, giving it a backstory on the web, and in the realworld, and selling it as a true story was definitely original (and in many opinions, effective)

Thats a small sample, but there are plenty more. It may be that most of the movie industry is copycat/clone, but Horror still has a few tricks up its sleeve.

Of course, then that also begs the question of what you define "original" as. I've seen some movies that are incredibly original - even if they are remakes or sequels.

"ANY MORE" was a little strong. But point being you listed 3 movies spanning 7 years (including the present).

(Nice pics by the way ;) )

I can list more, I didn't want to flood the thread. If Maugrim meant the last 7 years, those are the top 3 originals in my mind. If he meant 20 years, it would be a very different list. I could also list more even in the same period. I just focused on a good selection.

I went to see the Omen last night (this morning) at 12:05am.

It got 3/5 in my paper but I would give it a low 4/5. I haven't seen/heard anything about the originals though, but it was better than I expected - and worth seeing.

Although I thought the ending was pretty lame.

ok shifting the scope of this thread (but only slightly), what is everyone's favorite horror movie. I guess by favorite, that would be the movie that scared you the most.

I remember watching the 'Changeling' as a kid and it completely freaked me out. I haven't seen it in over 20 years and I'm sure now I'd think it was stupid, but it scared the bejesus out of me as a youngun'.

They weren't really horror movies, but two freaky, spiritually frightening movies that I saw when I was a kids were Prince of Darkness and Serpent and the Rainbow. They absolutely gave me strange dreams.

The Ring didn't scare me, but I thought it was a good movie and it certainly made my ex squirm.
