You take one refrigerator, remove the compressor unit, fill it with something more effective, tinker with the insides and switch on. If you have an MIT education you should now have a super cooler which doubles as a portable tire pump.

Quite right Liquid helium is inert too so I reckon everything would run fine. Liquid hyrdogen probably conducts electricty since it has a lone electron like a group 1 metal.
