Are you antisocial?

After spending 12 hours writing code, I get used to interacting with the computer. What I mean is that when I write code, it does what I tell it to. It doesn't misunderstand me, question me, look at me funny, or do something I didn't want it to do.
So then when I go out to the store to buy something, I have to deal with people that are incompetent and it's like a 180 degree circle from the PC.
Do you know what I mean?

hehe.... I'm not sure my computer understands me
I spend a lot of my spare time on the computer yes but I spend the other time doing generally very sociable things so I think I'm safe

I'm still young and like to party hard and get out and about.

I know... today was the story:
My ex-girlfriend had visited me earlier today. She's been using my computer when it started to get slow. I said to her: "There's movie playing in the background, pause it". And, to my astonishment,
she didn't
. Instead she closed the mplayer window =|...
I would go crazy if my programs behaved like her

Wife and five-kids. None of them *nix based. Their parsing logic is ALWAYS different than what my input specifies. So from time to time I try to reboot them, but to no avail. So, when I want/need things done according to my input, I schedule a date with me and the, as my wife calls her, 'the other woman'.
Hey, at least 'she' does what I want when I want 'her' to. Thought 'she' is not nearly as pretty...

Thanks. I think I have been in front of my computer too long. Or maybe its that I have been at work too long. Either way, I need to scoot, so off I go to the 'First Woman'. The 'other' one will have to wait a few hours.

Actually I spend way more time socializing than I do on the computer, but I do know what you mean. People are incompetant as hell. Sometimes I could apply
Code: Select all
"Serve me my damn food || die('you can go get another job');
Logic to people. but eh o well.

Most of the time I prefer code and the internet community over people that I can meet in the street.
The biggest problem I have with the internet is that when somebody says something rude, I can not smack them in the mouth.
I'm not very good with people in real life though. I have trouble approaching women most of all ^^
Although I am polite and curteous; speak softly and carry a big stick, I probably have very little to say to most people.
I got this girls number the other day though and that made me happy.
She says she wants to hang out, though she is moving in a week. I wonder what she could want. hehe ^^

This is why I've cut down on my computer usage (specifically, my gaming). The internet can provide similar stimulation to real social activity but with very little effort, so your social muscles waste away, and you become impatient with real people.
We are turning into an autistic society. And I should know.

I've considered programming always as my major hobby.. Now that it's becoming my day job.. I'm looking out for new hobbies... I need the diversity... (Luckily compuware is apparently nice enough to organize lots of 'extra' activities.. Off to the squash court in an hour;))

I find it way easier to force my computer to do things then to make people do things.
It is so much easier to get along with, it don't complain , bitch or anything
So when you say people are incompitant I know exactly what you mean and you are so right.
I like to socialize once in a while, but I wouldn't care if I didn't have an RL life at all.

Really? Wow! Can you see yourself locked in a room with a computer for the rest of your life with no sunlight, etc?
I don't get out enough, but now I've got nothing planned until uni in September, and most of my mates work full time, so I just sleep one half the day and bum around on my computer the other half. I wouldn't say I was antisocial though, I love going out on a weekend and the like.
Sucks really, I can't find the motivation to continue with my PHP project now, although just yesterday I got a full website job from this guy - that will keep me busy for a week

What does apc stand for? A perfect circle? That band rocks.
