Any CRT recommendations?

Post by Ree »

Up until now I have been using 17" MAG 786FD and it's been really good. The image quality and sharpness is still at a high level, even after those 6 years. Lately it started to display magenta tinted image upon power on (the problem disappears after 3 or so mins though), so yeah, I guess it won't last too long. I am thinking of buying a flat 19" CRT monitor and am currently browsing through any reviews I can find as well as asking everyone for recommendations. If you have any, go ahead, I would really appreciate it.

Surprisingly (to me at least) some people recommended Samsung/LG over MAG. Considering my good experience with my 17" MAG, I was thinking of getting myself 19" MAG 996 PF2.

I'd really like to get a flat screen, but I'm afraid it would drive me crazy because I can see all the pixels. I have a 21" HP A4576A. It has great color & contrast. I spose I'll keep it until it fries itself.

I currently have a 19" flatscreen LCD from LG (I think it's the LG1920?). I would absolutely recommend it to anyone, and they're not too expensive anymore. Before, I had a 19" Viewsonic flatscreen CRT (A90F), and it was amazing.

Samsung, LG, and Viewsonic all have amazing quality and I'd recommend any of them.

I agree with any of the Viewsonic range. Viewsonic screens are really good in my experience.

I've had really bad experiences with Viewsonic.. and NEC.. most monitors in fact, be they CRT, LCD or Plasma. I'm pretty picky about the displays I use.

IMHO, I wouldn't go with anything but ViewSonic. It doesn't matter what type, CRT or Flat, with ViewSonic, you'll always get what you pay for with them and their monitors are of the top quality.

They're so robust that I know gamers and graphics designers alike who buy nothing but ViewSonic for their computing needs.

Interesting, I have checked Viewsonic G90FB. May be pretty good. That's a candidate.

Any LG CRT users?

I'm not a flat screen fan, but I'm especially fond of my dual 21" Cornerstone monitors. :)

15" HP 1530 Flat screen at work. Very clean. Viewsonics across the board at home. Never had a problem with them, from the 15" to the 19" variety, they have always performed well and maintained their usefulness for a long time.

We use ViewSonic and LG at my work. The LG are really sexy and I would recommend those first. The ViewSonic's are nice, until they start breaking only 5 months out of th ebox.

Just to note, I'm for high image quality (games, video etc) rather than a $20 box just to stare at code lines.

I was leaning towards Viewsonic, but I can also find quite a few negative G90FB reviews. It's difficult to decide. My old 17" MAG uses diamondtron (aperture grille) technology and indeed the image quality is still very good, good enough for me to be happy to keep using it (and I'm picky here). Viewsonic uses shadow mask and I'm not sure if it compares well with, say, MAG FD2 810 or MAG PF2 996.
