blocking msn messenger in a lan

hello to all.
im working in an office where there are around 10 computers connected to the internet.
we want to block the use of msn messenger.
do you guys know where i can found information, programs, tutorials, etc. to do this?

Just block whatever ports it runs on. Doesn't it go via a gateway too, which you can block access to. Remove it from all the machines too as an extra measure.

Unfortunately, trying to block MSN Messenger ports is not a sensible option because MSN Messenger can, and does, use a variety of ports including:

I don't know that is accurate but another method would be to install ZoneAlarm on each pc and password protect it so that users can't make changes. I think that would require purchasing Zone Alarm pro for each PC though.

Norton Firewall can be used to prevent specified applications access to the net too.

Proxy servers with filters. It is killing me at work right now, but it works like a stinking, freaking charm. Even for humor sites. You set the filter and the proxy does the killing.
