Although the UI is a bit crap, http://www.123reg.co.uk is cheap.

I use dotster for all of my domains. Its fairly affordable, their terms of service explicitly gives you ownership of the domain (Network Solutions does not), and the interface is pretty good.

GoDaddy. I use them so much that I became a reseller to save even more. Their domain names are in the $7 to $9 (US) range. Easy admin panel, good, english speaking customer service located in Arizona. They answer your calls within seconds. They are top notch for domain names. Hosting is a bit of a different story, but for domain names, they rule.

I know they oversell when it comes to hosting. You know, like a 10GB account with 100GB of bandwidth, unlimited email addresses, unlimited FTP accounts, unlimited MySQL databases, etc. yes, GoDaddy does do an extraordinary amount of that.

When you click the button to purchase a domain name and they they also try to sell you your domain in .tv, a hosting package, and a private dns then that would be considered cross selling. Where they try to sell you additional products/services on top of what you are already going to get.

Of course they do. Every good business does...
