I dont know what hole I've had my head in for the past 3 years, but XUL is unbelievable.
I just stumbled across it today and am blown away at how extensive, easy, and well done it is.
Do any of you all have experience in XUL?

Yes, it really is. You can build whole apps, interfaces, and more all with a simple declarative language. Its really quite amazing.
The unfortunate part is that it has become a victim of the browser wars, with Mozilla and other opensource browsers going for XUL, while Microsoft has to have its own different, incompatible XUL-like technology for IE7.
But leaving that behind, no doubt about it - its amazing technology.

You have to remember it's in Microsofts best interests not to standardise - the more they are the default Window's browser and the more it inconveniences users to switch to an alternate technology, the better for them. Fortunately they did what every single monopoly does when they hold the market under their thumb - they failed to innovate and improve their service. Firefox and Opera were huge kicks up their ass, and web developers started a holy war because of IE failing to adhere to web standards. Unless XUL is adopted as a W3C standard IE will prefer an alternate rip off technology to lock in corporate users.
