Comp issue

Ok so I was preparing to download a southpark episode on torrentspy.com (no files actually downloaded) when suddenly my comp reboots. First time I see this. I'm back in Win xp and it's very slow so I say to myself I'll reboot and it should fix this. Can't get back into windows. Some blue screen of death appears and shows unmountable_boot_volume error and also file ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted/damaged. I check on google and they say to put your win xp cd and repair. I put my cd in but I have to change the boot sequence in my BIOS for my comp to boot from the cd. Then it loads the files on the cd and then just says starting windows and another BSOD! No repair option at all...

I don't really want to format. How come no option to repair? I tried 2 win xp cd and same thing happened. Any ideas?

Sounds like your Boot sector is b0rked. Google Fix Master Boot Record XP.

That's great but they say the same thing. Load the Win XP CD and Press R for repair... but I don't get any screen with the R option and all that. So what should I do?

Ok so now I can get to the repair screen except there is no repair option. I only have the option to install Win XP. I read somewhere that the reason why I don't have the option is because my system is too corrupted/damaged to repair it. Is that true?

Also for the C: drive, it can't identify the partition type (FAT32, NTFS...) but can identify the other partition. Weird...

I guess that means format?

Sounds like Windows let you down Bro.

did you make these partitions when you installed windows or did you use something along the lines of partition magic?

At least you get to the booting sequence - my pc stopped loading even to the GFX-card info screen :D

UPDATE!

I have 2 HDs. 1 that has a C: and D: partition and the other HD (300gb) has an E: partition for storage only.

I have formated my C: drive last night and reinstalled windows. When I go in my computer I see all my partition. The E: drive (300gb) file system is not displayed and when I click to access it, it asks me to format it. Would that be because I don't have sp2 yet? My BIOS can see the drive. I really don't want to format the 300gb because all my backups are on it.

its probably asking you to format it because the disk is corrupted. the directory table thingy is probably shot... if you partition it and dont format it you may be able to use something liek CIAunerase to something to recover some of your files.

good luck bro, i knolw what its like and it really sucks

Don't know if it will help, but can you use ERD COmmander and get into Windows from the CD? That might be able to help you out.

Resolved

I installed Win XP with the SP2 already on it and I see my 300gb hd and all it's content :D :D :D I am so happy right now!

So everything is almost back to normal. Just need to reinstall my apps... What do you guys think Nod32 or Panda for antivirus/firewall protection? I have both and previously used Panda and was happy but it must've been a virus that F*##%^ my system like that.
