Maybe you should find a more up to date site.
I mean the last version is build 8321, which is from March and was still in beta, that he has apparently tested on and we are at build 8533. And he is apparently not really that accurate and more than a little biased as he doesn't have any real list of Firefox CSS problems and they are many.
I'm using build 8533, and only one of the listed bugs on the geocities list has been fixed. Thats not bias, thats proof.
I included two links.
Also in testing many of the bugs on the first page, they are still present as well - including the specifically mentioned border-collapse CSS bug.

Good to read more experiences. I do have Opera and indeed it's fast. In the past the advertisements were annoying so I didn't give it a chance to become my main browser. But I have downloaded the recent 9 version so I'll give it another shot.
So many browsers, all with their own strong points. So many choices
But for now I'll try the bookmarks sync and start using FF for my main browsing. Seems many people have good experiences considering stability.

matthijs wrote:So just a moment ago I had another browser crash. Mozilla 1.7.13 on XP. Very very annoying. Happens quite often actually. Often it has to do something with either viewing PDF, advertisements on a page or wacky javascript.
As a further followup, you can have PDF's open outside of the browser, eliminating the plugin conflicts by reading the instructions on this post:

Thanks for the follow-up Roja. I've changed the opening of pdf's from the browser to the Adobe reader, that's much better.
[edit:]By the way, I also installed google browser sync. Seems handy. Messed up the bookmarks a bit though at first (duplicating some, not others). But I had made a backup so that was no problem. But it seems there's a data limit, because after 2 syncs I got the message that I had used all of my data transfer and have to wait a day to be able to sync again.
Maybe I have too many bookmarks.. Google doesn't want me to use bookmarks. They want me to use search and watch adds
[edit 2] Just uninstalled Google browser sync. It was totally slowing down FF to a crawl. Every 10 secs or so CPU would go up to 100% (don't know if it's possible, but I could literally hear my cpu making noice). Also, I tried turning off the sync temporarily via the menu of Browser sync but that totally crashed FF. Not funny google. So next time I need to synchronize I just email myself the bookmarks file and import it. Or look for a better solution.

I'll second that. Lynx has never crashed on me but I guess with no CSS or JavaScript support it's not likely to

Links is a variant of lynx that offers javascript support!

Oh wow.... now I'm excited. I've got links installed on one of my Gentoo machines and never even realised that. I have to go and play

I was already aware of links, however i didnt know that it had javascript support... wow. I was just using it for the pretty colours and table support (ever try to browse the old table'd slashdot with lynx... HA!)

I'll probably get chewed, but in my experience, using Moz, FF and IE on Windows...
Obviously IE loads fastest and has never crashed for any reason, outside of running a wary JScript or loading a massive PDF or Google map calculation...
But like Roja said, these are likely the plugin not the browser...
Just loading HTML, like my own web site, I've had FF crash and choke a few times, nothing to worry about, but NS...OMG I hate that peice of ****....
IMHO IE will obviously be the best in terms of performance...
For starters, it's not cross platform, but highly tuned to run on Windows only...
Those cross platform libraries cause quite a bit of overhead and complicatre codebases, which we all know will increase chances of something wrong happening...
Also, because the IE engine (trident) is integrated *into* Windows they likely use undocumented techniques to make it run more efficiently and effectively than other software...
If I remember correctly, I read an article a few years back about a guy who discovered some undocumented API calls by quasi-decompiling Word 97 or similar...
That's M$ for ya

i'd narrow down FF's crashes to the plugins installed cuz i haven't had single crash ever with FF. and do I have extensions galore. you bet!
well just so that I have a second chance i have SessionsSaver installed.
I do have other bones to pick with FF tho. Embeds give warning with Tidy and it wouldn't render OBJECT tag

You mean Netscape?

I think FF and IE are comparible speedwise, Opera is fastest (depending on which factor you want to
look at) But IE being stable... I don't know. I'm so used to restarting windows-apps, I'm not sure how often that happens.

Lucky guy

But indeed, plugins can be a reason for sloppy performance.

Do you have an example page for that?

NS = Netscape yes that is correct
I used it about 5 years ago, haven't touched it since...NS loaded like a pig and always bogged eveything down, last I used it...
FF not so bad, but still IE loads like right now on my computer, which is XP on an AMD 950Mhz whereas FF takes a few seconds...
On a slow computer like mine, I notice a big difference in loading times, etc...
