[annoying] the new mac commercials
is anyone else completely friggin' annoyed by the new mac commercials.
'hi I'm a mac',
'and I'm a pc'....
those ones.
I do think it's a brilliant marketing campaign, but omg, I get baby punching cravings every time I see one now.

Sorry, I'm with Everah.. I love em. They do a great job of clearly expressing real-world differences between the two, and why they matter to real people.
But then again, I'd cheer for a commercial that simply put the words "Microsoft Sucks" in white text on a black background on the air.. so I should be considered deeply biased.

as I said, it's a brilliant campaign. To be quite frank, I'm not sure what bothers me about them. maybe it's the retro mac guy...whatever it is, they drive me nuts, I have to change the channel every time one comes on now.Roja wrote:They do a great job of clearly expressing real-world differences between the two, and why they matter to real people.
edit: ok I just hit the link that everah posted and now I know why

We cannot detect your computer's operating system (most likely because you have JavaScript disabled). Please select your download from the choices below:
OSXMac OS X v10.3.9 or later
WinWindows 2000 or XP
I know mplayer *would* play the ads but it wouldn't even let me click on them to get them. Where's the linux alternative?
you're not missing anything d11...apparently you need a mac to watch them which is kind of the gist of the commercials.
damn it I wish I wouldn't have created this thread....I'm just angry now.

once i get a better job you better belive that's what i'm doing. granted its not on OSX (which i would prefer honestly) but it's still better than nothing.
the funny thing, is that windows runs better on Mac hardware. lmao

it's the stereotyping that sets me off. the pc is personified as a semi-overweight nerdy guy with a full suit interested in 'pie-charts' and 'spreadsheets' whereas the mac is the hip-retro jeans, T-shirt and sweatshirt guy...into only everything 'cool'.
great marketing for sure...who wants to be a pc?

I want to know where all the thick glasses, pock-faced, pale-skinned Linux programming geeks are in that commercial. Or us Gollum loooking DevNet regulars. What about us?!?!
Seriously, I know where you are coming from Burr. The funny thing is, without words, I mean just an image of those two guys together, what are some of the things that would come to mind? Clean things, I mean.
Just looking at them I would have though IBM and Apple. Not far behind would be PC and Mac.

while I do think that is quite amusing, I can't openly admit to it based on the post I just posted above...doh! damn it I guess I just did.MrPotatoes wrote:burrito. you'll like these then. done by Best Week Ever on VH1.
