no, and this doesn't help. trust me

MrPotatoes, I've been here before. Stick in there. Quitting is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.

The withdrawal will pass. If you don't quit, emphysema will not pass. I know: 40% of both of my lungs is dead air space and scar tissue. My wife worries every time the weather gets hot or dusty that she might have to take me to the hospital.

I quit in 1985, about 10 years or so later than I should have. (Well, I never should have started, but...)

Do yourself a big favor, stick with it. If you aren't married you probably will be, do your wife a favor.

It may come back. But each time it does (if it does) it will pass. And each time it does (if it does) it will be a little less bad. And the day will come, it will come, that it doesn't come back. That's a promise.

good that you stuck with it...that first day is the hardest. I think if you can make it past the next 3 or 4, you're good to go...taco bell good to go even.

Having never smoked myslef I've never needed to quit but I know plenty of people who've tried and failed. Several times. You what's *always* the thing that starts them smoking again? Being in the pub. If we go to the pub all the other smokers start smoking, the people trying to quit start drinking and then they let their gaurd down and start smoking. Keep away from the pub for a couple of weeks :P

It's curious... my flat mate tried quitting a fair few times and always started again even if he didn't go to the pub but it was always whilst drinking.... even if just a few beers. Apparently "beer goes down better with a ciggy.." :?

way to notice.

yea, that's a very big thing. so i'm staying away for awhile. for some reason smoking and drinking goes together very well and i don't get it myself. and since we can smoke in some of the bars here i'm not gonna even bother to go

I only smoke when I'm on river trips and at casinos.

on the river, I roll my own so it's kind of a deterent from smoking a lot, and I rarely go to casinos so I don't smoke a bunch there either.

Or move to a city that bans smoking in public facilities - like pubs. Columbus & Dublin Ohio both do so. It makes visiting a bar so much more enjoyable.

That would cover a vast number of public venues - including pubs (some of them) in the UK ;) I agree, non-smokey pubs are far nicer places for non-smokers. I used to go to a few pubs as a student where you were allowed to smoke yet it wasn't smokey since it didn't seem to attract smokers.

EDIT | Anyone from Durham it's the New Inn on the hill, Saints Bar near the river and Wetherspoons on north road :) Non-smokey.

seems I heard on NPR a few months back that some city in Washington was going to ban it on streets too 8O

something to that effect, my facts are definitely not 100% straight on this, but I do recall being taken aback by the story...I'm pretty sure it was Melissa Block reporting.

I had heard of a sity near us that was going to try the same thing. Indoor smoking has been banned for quite some time around here (Fremont, Newark, Union City area) so I wouldn't at all be surprised if they try that around here.

I've been smoking for 7 years and 3 months ago I stopped...

tricks that helped me. (I didnt cheated once in the past 3 months and I had no craving whasoever)
I never took anything to chew or patch or nothing, I was smoking around 1 pack a day. And on fri and sat night it went up to 2-3 depending if I was clubbing or not.

Let me first say that I HATE doing cardio (treadmills) but I forced myself and started ruinning 5 min every 2 days
then 10 min. and beleive me, it does help.

The thing is nobody can help you stop, you have to decide by yourself.
