So i'm trying something new. Quitting smoking

absolutely.
you have to make the decision yourself. I quit chewing for about 3 weeks to to prove to myself that I could (this was about 6 months ago). Then figured....ok now I know I can do it when I REALLY want to.
well the day I REALLY wanted to came 4 weeks and 2 days ago and I haven't looked back since. I stand firm in my belief that cold turkey is the only way to go. It's all about will-power and forcing yourself to do it.

Another thing to consider also is what motivates you. For some people, fear is a good motivator. For others, success is a good motivator. Whatever motivates you, plug into that and ride it as long as you can. If you need a pick me up, find a friend that can help keep you accountable. The good and the bad of it is that you are accountable to you and responsible for you. But I also feel that in the same way that you decided to take a cigarette and start smoking you can take a cigarette, throw it away and stop smoking. Is it easy? No. But it is worth it.

i'm quitting for a multitude of reasons and health is honestly down on the list
most people will never understand but i don't care. the fact of the matter is that it's a freedom and there are things that will kill you quicker. banning it from bars is weak. banning it from the streets? that is stright up retarded
i'm doing it to breathe better for metal screams
i'm doing it for my girlfriend
i'm doing it out of love
i'm doing it because i want to know what i can
i want to do it because it doesn't taste good anymore
i don't like the dependancies
i'm doing it for my mom
i'm doing it because i don't want to get wet anymore when i'm driving in my car in the rain
i don't want to smell anymore
i don't want to cough loogies in the morning
i don't care for the arrogant looks from people that don't smoke. that's not a reason i'm jus saying i hate it

No no, I'm in Washington. It's a fascist picnic up here.
"No smoking in bars or clubs or indoors period"
"No smoking in parks or zoos or any other outdoor fun place"
"No smoking within 25 feet of the entrance of a building" - Which usually leaves me in the street by the way.
"No smoking within 25 feet of a bus shelter"
Not to mention that I can't drink (I'm under the age) on my balcony. My neighbors like to watch me through their windows because they have nothing better to do, and then complain to my apartment manager.
In California even when I do break the law, 99% of the time, nothing happens. Plus a pack of Marlboro Reds is less than $4.

The state of affairs is fair game. The political commentary ("Fascist picnic") belongs on other forums (according to the rules of these forums).Daedalus- wrote:No no, I'm in Washington. It's a fascist picnic up here.

Not breaking the law in public and not being allowed to cause substantial detrimental health problems in others aren't generally the hallmarks of a fascist state. But if you want to discuss that theory, feel free to do so on another popular forum.

You can indeed. No question about it.i think i can make it now.
I actually don't breathe all that much better, I quit too late for that, but I don't smell bad and I don't stink up the house. I can smell flowers again and my wife's perfume. When it rains (which it does very seldom here) there is this incredible lovely odor of the rain hitting the desert.
Oh yeah, nonsmoker is better.
