i'm going cold turkey. i planned to start today anyways but i started premature. i wanted to take some morning cigs from my roomie today before i left so i can have one with my morening coffee before work. so i forgot them and then i started. so thats pretty funny
well, i have a headache, i want to punch a hole thru the wall, i'm making all kinds of mistakes and i feel like i have a fever. the hairs on the back of my neck are constantly up and i've got constant goose bumps.
there was nothig i loved more every day than a ciggy. i used to be 2 pack a day smoker almost up to 3 a day. i calmed down so i could quit mostly because i coughed up blood for the third time since i've started. i've tried to quit before but this is the first time cold turkey.
this hurts. really really hurts.
my tummy is warm. on the inside. and my arms feel real loose.
not a funny post today. because i'm really antzy.
man, this was a bad idea. i should hoensly go back and flame my lungs. nothing sounds better right now.

Stick it out dude. Once the withdrawal symptoms pass you are golden. You can do it, just stay strong.

I quit chewing about a month ago (cold turkey also)...and yeah it's hard to do, but once you get past the first few days, you'll be fine.

Quitting smoking is incredibly difficult, and quitting cold turkey is one of the hardest ways to do so.
With that said, you have ENOURMOUS benefits if you succeed, so stick with it!

Remember that statement, and think about how wrong it is. You *love* injesting a poison that is proven to kill you. You *love* it more than anything else. You *love* it more than living life itself.
NOTHING is that good.

Imagine that the day you turn 61 would be the happiest day of your life - great food, relaxing day, beautiful views, comfortable schedule, wonderful friends..
And then picture being dead a year before because you kept smoking instead.
Still think its the best thing possible?

I think this is true for only the first 72 hours, beyond that I think it's tougher to get rid of the niccotine dependency of 'the patch' or 'the gum'. You're just replacing one bad habit with another (albeit not nearly AS bad), but you're not actually addressing the real issue.
stay with it, just push through these first few days and you're golden...

I did the gum once. I actually didn't smoke cigarettes for maybe 4 days towards the end. Then I ran out of gum.

mints saved me.
go buy some certs or life savers or something...it's something to do to keep your mouth occupied (don't by the commits

)...those won't help you (see above).

Something I've been putting off...
I'm more addicted to the act of smoking than I am to niccotine. I can go 2 or 3 days without smoking and not really care, but if I KNOW that I can't smoke I crave one. It sucks.

Aye.
There are only two things that can keep me from smoking for more than an hour: Video Games and women.

Ahhh, the motivational backing of this board is the best...
MrPotatoes, over the next few days, when your entire body feels like it wants to eat itself from the inside out, remember that you have a whole crew of folks pulling for you.
