Darn hot! (At least in relative terms for the UK)

Post by Chris Corbyn »

Just watching my little temperature bar in Gnome on my desktop. It's climbing quickly now it's getting towards 10:30am. It's gone 25,26,27,28 in the last 40 mins 8O.

BBC News http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5193486.stm
It is set to be the hottest July day since 1911, when temperatures reached 36C (97F) in Epsom, Surrey.

Think it's gonna hit 34C in Manchester, 37C in Worcestershire.

And here we are sat at work! :(

(Ok Burr.... I know we can't compete :P)

Yeah, it's going to be about 102, 108F with the heat index here. It's been incredibly hot all week :(

Same here. Maybe the world is coming to an end. Could this Global Warming doo-dah :P

The Crazy thing is we're all running around talking about drought and emergency services etc etc because we're all so unused to it. The same thing happens when we get snow.... Britain grinds to a hlat and it's not like we're not unused to a bit of snow in the winter :P

End of last month we had temperatures here in the 40°C area - blamed on a load of hot air coming up from Africa. Now we're getting into the 35°C every day, which is a bit hot for a pasty Brit like me

As a South African currently living in London, must say I'm loving it :-) . Finally I'm not pasty white anymore. Been years.

forecasts talked about 37 degrees for today... The problem is that the airconditioning is set at 20 degrees... So when i go out at noon i'm confronted with serious temperature differences... Which makes it even worse :)

Ouch. Sounds like they need to use a bit more funding, and put some air conditioners in those buses!

Yeah... nice coaches have air-con but the thing is we never see these temperatures here so it's not going to be sued to rest of the year around.

I live with two australian girls and they find it weird that most of the cars made for the UK prior to 2000 or so don't have air-conditioning... but again... we never need it :( I have to say, the heat doesn't bother me... I actually quite like it being really hot. Since we don't get this very often we should make the most of it I say! :)

Yesterday the temperature was 95F and the humidity was a modest 95%. Consequences of living on an island off the coast of Florida, I guess.

Anna Maria Island -- it's about 45 minutes south of Tampa on the west coast.
