Cosmic rays

Some years ago an application I created caused an error, one that did not repeat, and when I went to their office and the client told me about it over coffee I came up with a story about a one-in-a-billion chance cosmic ray striking their computer and causing the error. I went to work on correcting the problem and when I went back to their office to install the fix I was horribly embarrased - they had believed my story about the cosmic ray!

You ever string a client, intentionally or otherwise?

That is funny. I had a client tell me that, "Anyone can build a web site". I was like right...

Sometimes my sarcasm gets the better of me, but it usually with my wife (she hates it). I try to keep it as professional as possible with my clients, especially the ones that really don't know better.

Me too, not that I'm older and (at least a little) wiser.

Actually, I had been working with these folks for quite a while, and I thought they would know I was joking. We had a good laugh about it when I came back with the fix.
