To me that sounds more like running away from the problem instead of solving it..

Sounds to me like he's been staring at some code too long. Then figured out one of a few errors he made and had a Eureka moment.
Either that or he really likes arrays.

I just spent about five hours reorganizing some code to do the exact same thing and I feel like this was one of the most productive days of my life.
So either I'm really unproductive, or I'm really strange. Maybe both.
