Yea, it's pretty neat...
I would have really appreciated something like that about 10 years ago though...not so much now...

http://local.live.com has better (and more) sat-images, global maps etc. Microsoft did better Google on that one - although not sure if there's a public API for it, yet.

This live thing Microsoft are doing is just like Google in that they are experimenting with loads of stuff online, seems that most of it has already been done though; and Microsoft are just adding a nice GUI and a bit of AJAX to it!

Looks like they are trying to imitate Google... which is kind of sad. (A company worth as much as Microsoft shouldn't have to imitate anybody). I could be wrong though...

Actually, Microsoft is built on imitating (or buying out) everything that works well.

Has anyone used the satellite map technology to view space images of their house? The google satellite map shows my house and I can see the newspaper in my driveway. Dude, that is a little freaky...
PS Google Maps blows MS crud out of the water. It might just be me, but that MS site was slow and ugly. Google flies.

Microsoft's version is much, much better in my opinion: especially for the UK, also the Bird's Eye view is so awesome! you can view any location where it is enabled: from 4 isometric (-ish) angles.
Don't get me wrong I love what google do and I've owned apple hardware most of my life (not anymore though) so I'm not a big Microsoft 'fanboy' or whatever, I just think that this is a great product and MS are finally pushing the boundries a little, not so much with Virtual Earth but with some of the other projects they must be spending millions on R&D on.
