Where are you located?matthijs wrote:Tim is one lucky fellow to live in Belgium. Our southern neighbours have the best beers in the world! That's not just my opinion, that's a facttimvw wrote:I prefer 'Duvel' for the taste... When i go out with friends we usually order Jupiler or Stella...
Duvel is very good, but be careful not to drink too many of them (it's all in the name.. hehe). I also like Leffe, very good stuff.
I've heard Germany is place to be for beer...second to Canada of course
My city has a festival called Octoberfest which is all about Beer pretty much...it's an interesting festival and I think actually supposed to emulate an actual beer drinking festival in Berlin or something...

I have a friend who has Czech background and he always told me that the Budweiser company (Bud) in the states was owned by a CZech company...MarK (CZ) wrote:You shouldn't forget that czech beer is the best there is!
Two years ago, we had a Canadian guy here for a year. At first he didn't like drinking at all and when he was leaving, he wanted to start a czech pub in Canada just to have good beer there
Budweiser Budvar (the czech one, not the US copy)
Pilsner Urquell
Krusovice
Staropramen
... there are many others but I don't think you could know any of the others
But really, most of the beers here are very good. And there are many smaller breweries where you can get really awesome beers!
What your telling me is their different?

That's pretty much it...Everah wrote:Probably, since it's such a ghetto beer...
I drank it in my youthful ghetto years, so I agree
There was a beer (I'm sure Canadian) it was called OV and we used to drink that as well, but there was a moniker we all had for it...
Old Va..... figure it out from there

I wasn't even aware they still made that stuff. Yikes. Please, I implore you, give your tastebuds and soul a little vacation and try something new...it'll greatly improve your outlook on beer in general.Daedalus- wrote:Am I the only one that likes Old E'?

BTW, out at lunch today we stopped by a place that had Fat Tire Amber Ale on tap and had a couple, very good stuff, I recommend it.

While the Europeans list some of the finest beers in the world in their lists, so far the Americans have shown pretty miserable taste in beer (Guiness lovers excepted). Probably Sam Adams is the best listed so far, but "lite" beer and "malt liquor" are in my humble opinion -- swill.
No mention of the world class brews from the likes of Victory Brewery in Pennsylvania, Kalamazoo/Bells Brewery in Michigan, or the Anchor, Stone or Sierrra Nevada breweries here in California -- and there are hundreds more. America is micro-brewery heaven these days.

I can only agree... A couple of small american brewers are doing a very good job these days.. I don't really care where it comes from, as long as i like itarborint wrote:While the Europeans list some of the finest beers in the world in their lists, so far the Americans have shown pretty miserable taste in beer (Guiness lovers excepted). The most famous is 'Witte van Hoegaarden'... But five or six years ago the brewery was bought by Interbrew (Inbev these days) and they changed the flavor... Until then it was my favorite 'to get drunk' beer... Nowadays i don't drink it anymore...Daedalus- wrote:I like swill.
The other day I had a white ale from Belgium (sp?) which was pretty good. I forget what it was called though.
Red Stripe - It's a Jamaican beer in stubbies (sp?).
I like it because every time I have one, I imagine myself on a deck on a warm sunny day.

Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.
