Whats cool in your city?

Sorry, I promise, last general topic I start today...anyways, in my last message, I made a comment about 7-11, which made me wonder if the marketing babble they push on my city was true...they have claimed we are the Slurpee capital of the world...well they weren't lying, were on the trivia list on their web site:
http://www.7-eleven.com/newsroom/funfacts.asp
Point 15, Winnipeg Manitoba Canada...
I contribute to that number
So I figured I'd list other neat little facts about my home town...
1) Winnie The Pooh is a Winnipeg'er
2) James Bond is sort of a Winnipeg'er (http://commanderbond.net/article/2399)
3) Terry Fox, was Born and lived in Winnipeg
4) Childhood entertainer Fred Penner and rock legend Neil Young (although Neil isn't born in Winnipeg) are from Winnipeg and attended the same high school
5) Winnipeg I believe was the first city in North America to adopt the 911 call number
6) We have the first and possibly only U-Turn signal in the world
7) We have been the murder capital of Canada on and off for many years now
We are located almost exactly dead center of North America and are short hop from the actual longitudinal center of north america.
9) There is a city sign which states we are the XMAS capital of Canada, not sure how you measure that, but hey...it's cool
10) Mosquitoes so large, they oculd carry a small child away
I have heard this many times locally but cannot find actual statistics...but Winnipeg has the highest population of Filipino's than anywhere outside of the Philipenes...again not sure of it's accruacy, but as a child half my friends were filipino...so that says something
Here is a Wikipedia on Winnipeg...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnipeg
I'd like to hear interesting little facts like this about your cities...although I would prefer not hearing about massive cities with millions of people...
Try and find a smaller city close by or something...Winnipeg doesn't have more than 700,000 people, so were pretty small...
It took me longer to drive out of DFW airport perimeter than it does for me to drive through the city of Winnipeg *lol*
It saddens me so many youth want to move from Winnipeg, as it's IMHO a pretty cool little town with tons of interesting history, real mover's and shaker's and tons of life...just gotta know where to find it all
Anyways, yea, gimme some cool facts about your city...not just the Wikipedia...
I love this kind of stuff...
Cheers
