Ye' old general discussion board. Basically, for everything that isn't covered elsewhere. Come here to shoot the breeze, shoot your mouth off, or whatever suits your fancy. This forum is not for asking programming related questions.
Tip: Don't take too many of those "I'll do it for next to nothing for the sake of a portfolio" projects. I did what d11 is suggesting, and it worked marvelously for a time, but then I got fed up with working for next to nothing and still had several commitments to finish up anyway. 'Twasn't fun.
I tried doing what d11 suggested... but everybody in my little town uses Sierra Tech for their web sites (if they even have or want one) and nobody will stray. Funny thing is, I ended up working there and doing all their sites anyway (if they would have just let me do them before they would have got a free site-- dummies)
It's ok to get your feet wet with small jobs at the start. Just make sure you dry them off quickly and start making real money. Credibility is easily bought with large enough income.
