Hi Guys,

I want to write a script for sending ecards.... but I am graphically/artistically challenged.

Therefore, I wanted to ask you guys if you knew of a website (that is free) that would let you copy the images/ save it, and reuse it in a script that I am making

Any help is appreciated.

Not to sound to negative, but I doubt it. Unlike open-source developers, graphics folks have a tendency to not open their images for free use. Although, have you tried google yet?

Hi Everah,

I did use google for this... with this search string:

royalty+free+ecards

but, after first few result visits, I came here.

I mean something, and they output something

let me try this:

non-copyrighted+images
and

non+copyrighted+images

and see what gives

OK, phew.... some luck...

Here's one link I found (in case if someone is in image hunt as I am):

http://srufaculty.sru.edu/david.dailey/ ... domain.htm

this website hosts images of insects/mammals/reptiles/plants/machines/agriculture/mollusks/ and last but not least: a flying machine..

None of which I can incorporate into my ecards script. Hence my reason of saying "Some Luck"

Ooh, the Nuvolo icons are pretty spiffy. Granted, they're not ecards, but I'm sure you could hack something up. Also, check out Wikimedia Commons, a repository of free images for Wikimedia projects.

Thanks Ambush Commander,
I am taking a look at those right now ;)

Just wanted to know: If I hack/piece the images together, I wouldn't be in violation of any copyrights, right?

As far as the other sites I posted above, I have emailed quite a few authors/webmasters requesting a permission to use their ecard images. See whatgive ;)

PS:
Why did I have to be so graphically/artistically challenged??!

Check out

stock.xchng
free images (though not all can be used commercially, so pay attention to the licence of each image)

istockphoto
Not free, but almost. 1 dollar per image is almost free. Great images there.

As long as you are not using someone else's images, you are fine. :)

Well, if you're using public domain images, you can do anything you want with them.

If you use open source images, you'll have to rerelease any derivative work under the same license.
