I see these advertisements on TV for DSL for 12.95 and all that. I'm paying $34.95 per month right now. I went to the phone companies web site and noticed they have a speed twice as fast as what I have for $27.95. I figure I'll call them and order it. They tell me it's not available in my area. I say ok fine put me on a lower priced plan then. The guy says well you have to complete your current promotion first. I say, "I did six months ago". He says ok, well then we can put you on the lower priced plan but you have to sign up for another year. I'm moving soon so I'm not going to do that.
So then I call the cable company. They have a plan where you can get Phone/Cable/Internet for $89 for 6 months. After that it's $114 or so. Only problem is that the upload speed is only 256k. No thanks. I ask them if they have a faster plan. They say sure, there is a $99 installation fee for home networking equipment. I tell them I already have a home network installed. They say sorry we have to install it.
Bastards. Guess I'll stay with the phone company for a while. It won't be long before the cable company starts feeling the pressure from these $12.95 DSL offers. I'll hold out until then..

Yea they all try and dick you around...
I'm paying almost 50/month for my cell phone through Rogers Canada...A friend on Telus, albeit a crappy phone compared to mine, pays only $20 will all the same bells and whistles...call display, etc
Monster communication companies do that because they can...
Little guys don't last long in that arena
