Hi, is there any know hacks that could prevent someone to telnet in an apache server even at the console? That will kicked out of telnet whenever right password is used? I have been hacked (saw it in my logs) with those symptoms. Had to reboot and change passwords. Now I'd like to prevent it from happenning again. So perhaps, given the above mentioned observations, someone might give me a pointer?

ftp was not disabled.

minor correction - the proper word to use would be 'cracked'...hackers are programmers. Hackers build thing, crackers break them.

Disable telnet, enable ssh first off.

Secondly, I don't understand, you want the person kicked out of telnet whenever the right password is used?

I was saying that whenever I was using cracked password, I was being kicked out, not them.

I will use ssh. How do you disable telnet and enable ssh?

sam, how do you know I am hw? It's not in my profile 8O

maybe he typed 'hw' by accident, 'e' is next to 'w'. Or he's stalking you. What is the sagnifigance of 'hw'?

hw is the short name or abreviation of my site that only people who know its existence refer to it as such, instead of typing in the longer name.

but I think that you are right, he meant "he".
