Evil Walrus is back!

Post by aaronhall »

Hey guys--

Wally is back!! The new domain name: http://www.evilwalrus.org

The new site is built around a database backup from September 2001, so we're not starting from scratch. While there is a lot more coming, the bulk of it is working. Test it out and let me know what you like, what you don't like. I'll be dedicating as much time as I can to completing what's left on the (tentative) todo list. I'd like your input on the site so we can move in that direction. My email address is aaron@evilwalrus.org or you can reply to this post.

I apologize in advanced for any server problems should you experience them. I'm working on getting the site over to a more reliable host.

More coming in the next few weeks.

Is it the same site ownership as before, or is it a rebirth of the previous EvilWalrus?

Well, Aaron was an original owner (or at least one of them), so it's definetly original EW.

probably going against the grain here, but i was never a big fan of evilwalrus anyway :?

I cannot see what it offered the community that other sites dont offer (and better?)

This site, now thats a whole different matter, imho, not counting php.net this is the ultimate PHP site.

Well then, he is missing the 'Member of the PHP Developers Network' on his site. :D

Thanks for the comments guys. I forgot to mention last post that if you had an account at the site before September 2001, your account is in the database and you should be able to log into it.

I'd love for the site to be apart of the network again -- who's the man to get in contact with?

Hope you don't have to commute down the 17 in the morning -- what a mess. What do you do in Scottsdale?

no I'm not that far west. I'm halfway in between cave creek and I-17. I go down tatum to the 101 and then straight east to Scottsdale...traffic usually isn't too bad.

I pretend to be a programmer for a web development company. So far I've done a pretty good job of tricking the people for whom I work that I have some idea of what I'm doing.

I do the same thing, only for a security company. Isn't life grand?! Image

I don't think you ever stopped being part of the network, though the site did disappear for a bit. I am sure that Jason or feyd could be contacted regarding re-acquiring the PHPDN Member status for EW, if that is even necessary.
