DVD Drive getting noisy???

Hey guys... My computer is about a year old and for some reason my dvd drive is getting noisier... kinda sounds like a loud hum like it is really spinning the cd really fast. Anyone know what can be causing this or how to fix? The DVD drive works fine... it just seems to be making more noise. And sometimes I will even have to open the dvd drive after reboot because it will just keep spinning/making noise. Opening and closing it seems to stop it after rebooting.
Thanks for any help.

That's the normal sound of the spinning.

Yeah sounds pretty normal to me. Obviously as things get older the bearings start to wear a little and things vibrate a little more. If your drive starts to stop and start making judders or clunking noises then I'd start to worry since they do that when they're about to pack in.

Thanks guys... at least I know nothing major is emminent. However, it is quite annoying. Occassionly the drive will "judder" a bit, nothing drastic, but it sometimes does sound like there is an inbalance. Would one of those laser lens cleaner cd's be worth a shot... or don't bother? THnaks.

The imbalance is often due to the disc. Either the printing materials or the plastic itself being slightly off center or something.

Ahhhh... that explains it. Must be the cheese curl residue leftover from me handling the CD.
