This is rich...advertising your a professional web developer/designer/marketer on a forum full of professionals...
Thats great business...now I can steal your ideas
Seriously, I don't think you'll drum up much business this way, but tell me if you do...cause i'll use the same technique

Since you guys jump to premature conclusions, let me remind you of one thing: the benefit of the doubt has never hurt anyone on this forum. It's an unwritten rule on this board and I ask you to respect it. To follow do something very simple: don't post on this thread unless you add value to it. That benefits everyone.

You will have much more luck finding website work when you post your own website.
I wouldn't buy a car from someone who rides the bus everyday.
Best of Luck

I humbly disagree with patrik. As far as I'm concermed he's filling the forum with junk. He's not an active participant on the forum, he's simply soliciting his services.
Not to mention jwalsh's post. If you're a serious web developer, at least throw together a portfolio site. I understand that sometimes you do an excellent job in your own profession, but it doesn't reflect on you, because you just don't have time for yourself.
A hairdresser's own hair might not give you a good example what she/he might be able to do with your hair. But I mean, come on...!!!

You are new to this forum, so let me explain this in more detail:
- a) We, that is the team of moderators and admins, aim to be polite on this board and expect that of members.
The right way to go about concerns about this is, as Jenk did, to ask for more information ("Do you have a portfolio?"). Since then, no other post on that thread has added any value to it.
- b) Judgements about the validity of a post are not made by the postcount of a member, but by what they are posting. If someone else has voiced the concerns you are having already, there is no need to repeat or expand on that.
As I did before, I ask you, for a second time, to respect that.

If we all followed that rule, this website would be full of threads with one question and one response...

Geez, I thought I was in trouble there for a second and would end up being banned from the site for having an opinion. I'm glad you guys were on the same page with me.
Cheerio!

I was quite curious about that advert, especially the line "Want to make a gift to a person dear to you in the form of his or her own project?". Has anyone ever given someone else a website as a gift? Bit out of left field that one.

I gave one to my nine year old daughter. She wanted a blog for christmas, so I set one up for her.
Now would I do this as a practical, not expected gift? No. Who in their right mind would want a freaking web site just because?
As for the rest of the thread, specifically those who have an response to patrikG, you really need to understand what he was asking. He never said that you cannot voice your opinions. He asked that, 1), you do not jump to conclusions about the OP's post, and, 2), that if you are not going to add value to that post, don't post. That is why this thread is split from the original post. None of this would have added value to that. Please try to stay on topic AND context here.

And why would that be a bad thing? If something was said before on a particular thread, why repeat it?

I hadn't split the thread and moved it, nor would we be discussing it here, in General Discussion, if there were cross-eyed, evil and power-hungry mods waiting to sink their fanged teeth into innocent and opinionated victims. This is a discussion board, it's the reason why it exists: to have an opinion and discuss with other opinionated members.
Anything else: I believe Everah has put it very eloquently.
