in'n'out is beyond the state of CA...we're been inundated with them here and they're horrible imho.
Carl's Jr is much better....in fact I could go for six dollar bacon cheese burger right now....mmmm.

the only place we're overran with around here is
subway ... they are freaking EVERYWHERE.
(that map doesn't even map all of them... there's at least 2 more I know of)

I agree with the idea of a pub meal - they tend to serve real food...
. Are you lacking decent pubs over in the US? Over here at least they are packed at lunchtime.
Who in their right mind offers McDonalds as a potential lunch run???

Yes, our pubs quality of food are often nowhere near the quality of our beer.
Hopefully everyone knows our beer tastes like swill.

agreed. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was one of my favorites.

My usual lecture rooms are <2 minutes from my flat so I just nip back in the lunch break and usually cook some chicken!
Subways are absolutely everywhere here too. Manchester is worse than Leeds for them. Also in Manchester we have a Starbucks to go along with the Subway on practically every street. Nando's is getting quite popular too, they seem to be popping up everywhere now.
