Weird Win XP

Post by Ree »

Yesterday I have noticed that My Computer icon on my desktop changed from the default one

to this
Image
Just like that, changed. I *think* this happened after the crash to desktop while playing Richard Burns Rally yesterday, but that's somehow fantastic. I wonder how this possibly could have happened... I haven't installed any new software lately, and my new PC has just been running two weeks since the fresh Win XP install.

Windows is amazing isn't it? I won't be able to sleep until I change the damn icon back  Just how do I do that?

Edit: Switching color depth and then changing it back cured the problem. Still weird IMO.

The icons seem like a one for low color depth displays... check the color depth in the video preferences.

You were playing a game and it crashed - ;)

Many games will reset desktop graphics preferences while they're running. If they crash, they neglect to switch them back. Check your display preferences and if that does not work, and the higher options are for some reason unavailable then reinstall your video card drivers to their current versions.

Check if your game has any patches available on the net.

Right-click desktop
Click Properties
Click on the tab that says settings
Half-way down the windows to the right it says Color Quality.
Make sure your color quality is set to "Highest 32 bit"

Also you should make sure you have the latest drivers and the currect sceen resolution.
