I am looking for some good free drivers for an AIT Radeon 9600 pro video card. The drivers on the ATI website are like 'dot net framework AHHHH' and im like 'mis hasia!?' so anyone know of like that one cool group of kids that make free, possibly open source, video drivers?

If you scroll down to the Low Speed (Dial Up) section, you can get Driver Only - it excludes the Control Center which is the component that requires the .Net Framework.

Actually, I had some problems when installing the driver-only package. Installing CCC was all fine. This is my experience on a clean Win XP Pro SP2 install.

Why are you reluctant to install .NET? BTW, I wouldn't look anywhere else - I doubt you will gain anything by using 3rd party drivers (except an increased chance of incompatibilities). Stick with ATI is my suggestion.

That's quite possible, given that advanced configuration options are only available with the Control Center. As usual with ignoring manufacturer's recommendations, it's a case of YMMV
