this happens to be a 'bark scorpion' and the worst kind (in this area). I've read of a few cases where they were deadly, but it's very rare. More often than not, when you're stung, you have an episode like this: http://www.dflt.org/awareness/scorpions.htm .... still not pleasant, but at least you livepatrikG wrote:is it the "poisonous to humans" kind?
yeah I had heard that and went to the home depot and bought one. My son and I walked around our house at night for two weeks straight expecting to see something the likes of Las Vegas...such was not the case. In fact we didn't see anything that glowed other than a few gum wrappers the construction workers next door had dropped.wtf wrote:Get a black light ($10 @ wallmart) and scan in and around the house at night. Scorpions "glow" in the dark and you'll be able to see if there are some more.
I then found one in my house (a scorpion) and thought...ok, this is it, this thing is gonna light up like a 100 watt bulb, so I dropped the lights then walked into the bedroom armed with the blacklight and alas, it gave off a tiny glow, but certainly not what I'd read about. I had to bring the light within 6 inches of the creature for it to light up at all, and what little light it did give off was nothing noteworthy. I was sorely dissapointed...I had paraded around my house for over two weeks for this??? This scorpion was either going to light up like a christmas tree, or see the bottom of my Duffs. It had a choice. To its end, it made the wrong one.
ok, truth be told, it would have seen the bottom of my Duffs anyway, but it would have at least lived a bit longer while I corralled the whole family in for the light show.
