Post by Maugrim_The_Reaper »

The official release is out for those who didn't manage to crash ftp servers grabbing it yesterday after its early upload...;)

Backup your 1.5 Application Data folder and/or install Fx2 in a different folder (although the Application Data may still be overwritten, at least you'll have a backup.) :)

my biggest concern is tab mix plus. I read that 2.0 provides the ability to close tabs right on the tab itself (same as tab mix plus), and I don't want any conflicts with that. I use tab mix plus for other reasons (not just closing tabs on the tabs themselves) and so borking of any kind with regard to tabs and mixing and plussing is no good for me.

I may try the backup and install idea later....

I just threw caution to the wind and installed it. Seems like most of my extensions are working properly.

Greasemonkey
Web Developer Toolbar
Colozilla
Fire FTP
Sage RSS Reader
Errorzilla (Updated Automatically)
IE Tab
Paste Quote
PDF Download

Not Updated (and apparently not working)
Restart Tabbed
Server Spy
XML Developer Toolbar

Everything else (including my themes I had) appear to be in order. and this freaking spell checker is radical.

Well, at least now you'll spell correctly! The spell checker is very transparent. I like it a lot.

I had some initial troubles with an extension that was causing all possible buttons in the context menu to be shown, but I found a replacement and everything is working like a charm. I'm not sure I agree with the visual change to make non-active tabs darker than the rest of the layout, but I'll get used to it.

Ahh I do like their timing. IE 7 is released and before anyone can actually get excited FF2 comes out and stamps all over Microsoft :D

Anyway it seems pretty good so far. Does anyone want to make a search engine plug-in thingy for DevNet. Make one perhaps?

From what I gather, it should be quite easy to do.

In other news, Firefox 2.0 nuked DOM Inspector! I had to reinstall to get it back. :-(

Mine came with the DOM inspector. Did you select to include it in the install with custom?

well it screwed up my tab mix plus and it's gone. I didn't back it up on this machine....boo for me.

guess I'll have to wait until the tab mix plus author comes out with an updated version.

Actually I was expecting a little more from 2.0. I don't see any "critical enough" features that would make it worth for me to upgrade from 1.5... I was expecting at least minimal performance increase and lower memory usage.
