So, come regrade day - I can't login to my SSH/VPN stuff .. a few minutes of investigation I find they removed my Static IP. (SSH/VPN restricted to single IP)
Phone them immediately to ask to have it back "Sorry sir, it will be reassigned ASAP."
*phew*
a week passes and still not reassigned. (still dynamic too.)
Phone them again every day for the next 5 days.. get given the usual piffle trying to fob me off etc. but eventually I persist and get put through to their 'ip team' (lol.. as if they call them that) and am on the phone whilst they reassign it.
Wait a day for it to filter through, it's the wrong number.
Phone again.. "Sorry sir, it has been reassigned. We operate a 2 week grace period in which to allow our customers to report mistakes like this." .. ignition..
"We cannot reassign your old IP." .. blast off. I cannot describe the pure fury I am experiencing at this point..
following on, I have spoken to all kinds of people with dubious titles, had them contradicting each other, all the while I still haven't got my frigging IP back! Lucky for them clients have not reported any problems else I'd be thermo by now!
So.. I ask my hosts to re-register IP.. they want an admin charge.. now I am a little more annoyed, but decided to ask my ISP to pay before I get worked up.. first they refuse to pay, so the poor guy on the phone had an earful, then the manager refused to pay, he got an earful, then changed his mind, but will only pay by means of offering one month free of charge off my bill, which just about covers half the admin charge.
2 months after the problem was first reported, they have only just now (today) agreed to contact the new owner and ask for it back. They promise to report to me what the customer says, of which I will scrutinise like a mofo to be sure it's not a fob off.
I'm now ready to collapse into a black hole I have exploded so violently.. as some will know, I'm an angry man at the best of times.. this is not a pleasant me at this moment..
__
Call me old fashioned, but whenever I make a mistake with a customer, or even joe bloggs for that matter, I go out of my way to correct it as best I can... why oh why are so many companies so reluctant to fix their mistakes these days?
Time to stick some SOAD mp3's on and scream death to all things and smash thin air..
