Pancakes are actually pretty good for you aslong as you don't go mad on the toppings. Use margerine instead of butter and/or add a sprinkliing of sweetner and/or some Jiff lemon. Try savoury pancakes too.

Of course it is, that is why, as a Mexican kid growing up, I would see a jar of manteca sitting on the stove melting all day long.
