How do you like Vista?

Post by timvw »

Yesterday evening the Vista download became available again for me on the msdn downloads... A couple of hours ago i decided to give it a try.. I've been running Vista for half an hour now and there's really nothing that excites me (it just works. ok, perhaps that's exciting ;)).

Admitted, i still have to find a way to install the intel video drivers so that i can enable the aero glass.. Right now the UI gives me the feeling that i'm running KDE3...

I love it enough to switch to a Mac as soon as I have the funds.

I won't be using Vista unless I have to for work purposes. One of our network admins, thinking of installing Vista on the machines of our end-users noticed something stupid in the licensing terms too (in fact, in the actual software itself) which means that in order to use the VLK you need at least 25 machines to also be running Vista on the network. OMG, can they cram any more bulls*** into this release?

Definitely sticking with something *nix based, albeit a Mac on Darwin.

Sticking with Linux, though my gaming addiction may get the better of me in the future sometime and I'll end up dual booting.

I would never voluntarily install a Microsoft beta product.

I thought it was company policy not to install any microsoft product until service pack 2 was out?

I will upgrade too, but probably in the form of a new machine that forces Windows on you. Although, I may just join the Mac club here. Or I might buy a semi-decent machine (you know, the kinda that could run Windows, but shouldn't run Windows) and wipe it clean with an install of Gentoo, Ubuntu or Fedora Core.

the only reason i'd go to vista is if there was a game taht i wanted that only played on Vista. *sigh*

Will not buy Vista or any Vista machine. Linux first and Apple second. At work I will have to move to Vista. :( Does anybody know if Vista will allow you to dual boot? Cause I got me a dual-boot at work.

Just about any OS will dual boot if you know what you're doing :) Safest is usually to put the riskier one on the first partition right at the start of the disk though. I'm sure Vista will handle it fine. Oh wait, maybe Microsoft put something in the EULA which states that if it finds any other OS on the same machine you need to purchase a new license or it will overwrite it.... :P
