and now I am at a complete blank as to what I should put on it.. and have been for a couple months.
jenk dot co dot uk to avoid this being labelled an advert
Hmm.. I could put some variation of blog software on.. but wouldn't know what to put in as content.
Suggestions welcome, so that I haven't wasted my cash

If you have nothing else to put on there just start blogging there. My vanity domain is quite literally a one-page CV/resume and nothing more. I also have a domain for blogging but I never use it sadly.

Put up a blog. It is what everyone is doing. Everyone, that is, that hasn't followed the others off that bridge...

i put up wordpress and a gallery and i'm fine with it. would have liked to do more but unfortunatly i can't.
i plan to use it as a root launching point for my framework and company. a more official one will follow after all inital testing is done.
you could always just put up a gallery, blog, calender up there. i use mine also for my funny forum pictures when i'm going to post something sarcastic

An upload script with a management section for it. You can share files with people easily instead of fighting work firewalls / different IM clients.
An address book of some sort. I cant count the amount of times that I needed peoples phone numbers but didnt have a good list anywhere. If I had a place to put such a list then I would be golden.
A photo gallery. When you have friends all over the world its great to have the ability to share photos and let friends upload their photos so you dont have to deal with emails and you will be able to show anyone online. A centralized location for pictures is a great thing.
A music player with some of your music. I had a flash program that played all mp3's from a folder like a cd player. It was awesome since you could go to school or whatever place with a computer and just plug in some headphones and listen to music while you did whatever. Although I did not have my iPod then, I would still probably use this from time to time if I was at a buddies house and was like 'oh you gotta hear this song i have' or whatever. There are many times it would be handy.
...Thats what I would do if I had my own space.

Ditto MrP, was going to pimp my own stuff but as things elsewhere have gone skyward, my motivation and time allowance for such activities is practiclly null at the moment.
I am probably going to end up writing a blog.. but knowing me it will be a major rant fest as I just can't seem to write about anything else
Hmm.. I was originally going to write my own blogger, too. Will see if I can cram it together as it's not
that far from finished..

well at m3mn0n dot com I basically just link to a bunch of different sites I use.
My blog, my flickr photos, my dugg stories at digg, youtube favorites, and etc.
So there's an idea if you're interested in adding something there if you're into those types of things.
And btw, just about all of those programs offer some way to extract raw data out of their site so you can completely customize the design and content display as a project if you're bored and want to get some API/XML experience.

writing a blog is so simple. it's the features that make a good blog.
if you do one make sure to put user permissions so that i the admin can decide which groups or even users can view a post and not just by role. that's the biggiest thing i miss about Live Journal going to wordpress. i'd write my own too but i'm still in the process of finishing up my framework (close) and then i'll be redoing my controller shem to reflect Zend/Wact/Web.Framework more. i hate the way that mine is

This is what exactly happened to me after I bought a hosting package. But now I use it a lot, for storing files, backing-up data, testing things I code in PHP and some other things.

So you bought a domain name and hosting package, and now are trying to decide what to put on it... isn't that kind of backwards? Usually I wait until I have an idea first, then buy the domain and hosting.

I had ideas.. big ones.. but the effort has gone, and I wanted to snap up jenk before someone else did.. (it became available not long ago)

That is what I do, I just snatch up names I like. I have collected around 20 right now, most of which I do nothing with. I just like having them. One day I will have free time and do something with a few more of the names.

Actually now that I think about it I do that too... not with hosting space, but I own about 10 domain names I'm not using...
