I like this idea of having a universally recognized avatar across all websites. This way we dont need to keep uploading out avatar on every site but just give our Gravatar username to the forum and it automatically updates the avatar.

Is this a:
  • Rhetorical post?
  • Suggestion?
  • Blog post?

Could not find much info on Gravatar and didnt know of any forum making use of this (ofcourse, now Gravatar is temporarily down).
Just wanted forum users to be aware of this so that this can really take on. I think phpBB, vB etc should start incorporating this - just couldnt find a any other location to post this. Why feyd, not relevant to General Discussion ?

Well it doesn't seem to suggest a discussion is wanted, nor is there a question, so it's nice to know what the point is.

Honestly, I really don't care for universal login (and other "universal" ideas) on the whole unless the sites are actually affiliated. We've talked about adding a universal login across PHPDN for example.

I agree with feyd. Universal logins creep me out unless there's some obvious reason for it -- affiliation and so forth.

Most forums support linking to a remote avatar anyway :)
