Eclipse is a resource hog... what can I do about that?

Whenever I run Eclipse, my machine just about craps itself... but as far as PHP editors go, in my mind there are none better. Is there anything I can do about how much of a resource hog it is?

I've found it to be pretty good on resources as far as Java-based editors go. Then again, I've only run it on either dual CPU or dual core computers.

It runs fine on my Athlon 3400. And on my P4 at work. What is your system setup?

On winxp it used to choke my 2700+, but on Linux it's very smooth.

it runs just fine on my laptop (winXP Pentium M 1.5) w/512 ram, but my work computer is really lame (like 4 hundred something mb ram and a 2ghz processor on winxp... I'm not sure why it runs so slow, but it does). Everybody in the office just got brand new 24" iMacs, and I still have my crappy little windows pos. I think he's going to buy something better for me soon... hopefully anyway.

add more memory if you can. If you have an IBM laptop, you can try the IBM's java VM, a little quicker in my experience.
